[The Messengers, Angels, and Books of God]

033- The angels (malāʾika) are the creatures (ʿibād) of God, the exalted, and they do according to His command. They are not described as being male or female. God has books (kutub) which He has sent down to His prophets, and in them He has shown His positive commands and His prohibitions, His promise (waʿd) and His threat (waʿīd).
